18 Months

Yes, we have been living here in Luxembourg for 18 months.  The official "anniversary" was last week.  On that day I thought a lot about what I should post and how in general I want to approach this important date.  But nothing significant came to my mind, and here we are few days later and I have decided how I will proceed.

At this point of our life here, we have developed opinions, likes, and dislikes about our current residence.  Our thoughts are much more educated now.  So  I have decided that once a week I will share 3-5 random facts about our European life.  I would like to touch up about some stereotypes and just simply compare/contrast how things happen here.

During this post I will share the tradition that we have continued with this year. Here in Luxembourg, the Easter Friday is not really celebrated and Easter Monday is the celebrated holiday.  Each year Luxemburgish people attend "Peckvillerchen" - festival of birds.  There are many stalls set up in the center of the Luxembourg city and people shop for their bird.  These birds are whistles, so as you walk the streets of the downtown, you can hear the chirping everywhere despite the temperatures in high 30's.  Streets were very crowded even at 10 in the morning.

This is just a picture of the stalls that sell and champagne and hotdogs.

... and some fun for kids.

Each bird has a year stamped on it.  Many collectors are able to get the older versions as well,

Here are our finds:
