Haloween Costumes

Friday Carolyn had a Halloween party at school.  Students were allowed to dress up.  Since our container has not arrived she had to go as a Cheerleader.  Anya had to make the pom-poms.  I am sure she was the only cheerleader at the school.

Parc de Merl

We thought that we should try out the another park in town today.  Parc de Merl was the best park prior to Pirate Ship Park's construction.  It is still a nice park and as you can see it has a zip line.  Everyone enjoyed the zip lines.

The Best Cookie

The cookie that I was bragging about.  Pictured above.  We really need to see if we can find a recipe or something.

The Park Across the Street

This picture is from the park across the street from our apartment.  It is a small park with a lot of activities for smaller kids, but Carolyn and Ian particularly like this swing.  We are able to push him and Carolyn together and to great heights.

The Farmer's Market

So we went to the farmer's market this Saturday.  Prices are not the best but the quality is great.  Carolyn is seen here standing in front of some cheese.  We bought some fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread and the best cookie ever made.  Too bad I am not sure what kind of cookie it was, but the flavour was the best.

Pirate Ship Park

So we had our first family adventure last Sunday.  We went to the now infamous Pirate Ship Park.  It is the premier park for Children in Luxembourg.  It is very well maintained and as you can see in the photo here, it has an awesome slide.  The kids loved the main slide (as you can see it is quite large).  They liked it so much that we decided to go back the very next weekend.  Two great Sundays in Luxembourg and with nice sunny weather to boot.

Fresh Apple Cider

So I knew that living somewhere new would bring some interesting new concepts and experiences into my life.  Fresh apple cider.  Just how fresh you ask, well the men and equipment you see here are grinding the apples, bottling the cider, and selling it right on the spot.  This photo was taken in our local grocery store (cactus) parking lot on a Saturday morning.  The cider was fantastic.  So great that we had bought some on Friday and went back on Saturday to get some more.

First Lux Car

Our First Car in Luxembourg

So we purchased a car today.  It is a Citroen semi-automatic.  It is a little odd to drive a car that operates a lot like a manual transmission, but with no clutch and there is no need to shift it if you don't want to.  It will do it all for you.  When I say it will do it all for you, it is not smooth like a normal automatic car is.  There is no park gear either.  Just R, N, A and M.  It should be interesting.

Cheers all.  More posts once I get some internet access at the house.  Right now we are very limited.

My First Beer Since I Left Texas

It was pretty good.  It was a dunkel, but not as good as Julius Echter.  Pizza Hut had a limited selection though.  I did buy some Orval (Belgian) for a steal of a deal today.  About $1.5 each.  They are about $4 in the US.  What a great deal here.

Cheers to all of those drinking a beer while reading this post.  To those who aren't, I guess you wish that you were having one.

Waiting for the IKEA Delivery

Ian and I decided to build a little something while waiting for our IKEA delivery.  Finally the deliver made it and I was able to start the task of assembly.  We managed to get one major item built and there are several more to go.

Carolyn's Fist Day in School

Acurrately she does not look excited on her first day of school.  However she made 4 new friends and overall had a good day.  During the typical German lessons she goes to another class and there she gets some remedial German to catch her up with the others.  We expect this to last most of the year.  She was happy when I picked her up even though it had started to rain.

Heathrow With the Kids

Anya and the kids trying to get something to eat in London Heathrow Airport. It was a long hard trip but we have made it all the way to the apartment and the hotel.  No bags lost and no issues at customs and immigration.  Actualy a very easy trip in my opinion.

The Curse of Uncle Joe

Last day of drinking with a great friend and he reminds me of the curse of uncle Joe.
