School has started

We just finished the first week of school.  Ian finally got his dream, going to Big Sister's school.  There is only one girl from his class last year, so he will be making new friends this year.  A quick note about the school system in Luxembourg.  As you might know, Ian attended preschool. It was not mandatory, but we thought it will be good for him to start learning the language. Also, it was free!!! I know it is hard concept to understand especially with all of the things Ian did last year.  Well, this year is the official start of the education system.

Carolyn has started 3rd grade.  She is right on the parallel track with the American system of grades.  As a teacher, I always seems to compare what she is learning here and what she would be learning in the States.

Overall, they both like their teachers and enjoy going to school.  Getting up in the morning is another story.... however we will improve in the next few weeks.

Here is their picture as they head out to school on the first day.

Racy Weekend

Racy.  I knew some of you will find the title of this post a little racy, but all it has to do with is racing cards in Nurburgring, Germany.  It was interesting that any vehicle can take a turn to ride on this track.  Obviously some cars should not be there, if you know what I mean. Ashley and I both had a chance to ride along is a fancy car around the famous German race ring.

This is the slow-mo of Ashley getting into our hot ride...

This is me taking my turn...

Schueberfouer 2012

I know that I still need to post a major summer recap, but our outing today is worth a little post of its own.

Nothing says summer like a summer fair.  Luxembourg has one as well, Schueberfouer.  It has been here for over a month, and we finally made it there.  On the last day of it, with the half off rides.  The half off was my biggest attraction.

The fair here is famous for its food (of course, it is a fair after all) and biggest Ferris Wheel.   Here are some pics of kids testing out the rides.

The front entrance ...

After all this I think we might be ready to say good buy to the summer holidays.  Kids are starting school on Monday :(
